GEOFFREY

This page is dedicated to Geoffrey Platts who died in December 2000. All who knew him will be familiar with the beautiful letters he used to write. I became one of Geoffrey's correspondents in the 70's during my teens; he had been a friend of the family and was keen to pass on to me his passion for ecology.

Here are some pictures from one of my visits to his canyon, in Autumn 1988 when I spent two months camping across the stream from his cabin and hiking with him in the desert, and a transcript of the article I wrote about it for the Independent newspaper. In time I'll be adding more detail to this series of pages.
